Job Description

  • Oversees the design, maintenance and implementation of the systems that manage an internal database.
  • Maintain knowledge on new database technologies and incorporate it into implementation of new systems.
  • DB2 (z/OS and AIX), Oracle, SQL Server, Snowflake and Essbase database platforms and systems.
  • Leading our efforts in modernizing our database platforms and leveraging new technologies and/or cloud.
  • Enhancing the scalability and performance of existing database architecture.
  • Developing database structures and features according to organizational needs.
  • Hiring, supervising, and mentoring database development teams.
  • Protecting data by developing data security and restoration policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Conducting diagnostic tests and evaluating performance metrics.
  • Developing procedures to ensure data integrity and quality.
  • Preparing and presenting system performance reports to senior managers.
  • Performing database maintenance, migration, and upgrading hardware and software.
  • Documenting processes and complying with best practices in database management.
  • Assist staff to achieve all targets on a monthly and annual basis and prepare necessary directions and status updates to senior management.
  • Develop strategic plans for various database technologies and assist in appropriate assessment of same
  • Prepare initiatives for information systems and application systems through efficient coordination with internal customers.
  • Assist various IT teams in appropriate implementation of new systems and system upgrades.
  • Prepare and implement various resource and budgetary plans within database administration.
  • Determine and execute various management programs and services and ensure support to organization.
  • Ensure compliance to all security policies and procedures for company and ensure efficient work of staff.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in management information systems (MIS), computer science, information systems, or information technology.
  • Advanced proficiency in Structured Query Language (SQL).
  • In-depth knowledge of database technologies, architecture, and data security.
  • Knowledge of best practices in database management.
  • Keeping up to date with developments and trends in database management.
  • Advanced analytical, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • 5-7 years retail experience with emphasis on leading database administration team.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to work with various IT and business teams as required.
  • Experience with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) concept or tools is a plus
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure is a plus
